  • I get nervous when I have to sing in front of others. Should I even take vocal lessons?
Welcome to the club and yes you should! There's no better way to exit the comfort zone and deal with anxiety than singing. You have the right to be heard!
  • This is my first time! What happens on a singing lesson?
First, we'll have a little chat of what brings you to singing lessons, and what kind of questions, goals or objectives you have in mind. Then we'll warm up our instrument, the body, a bit and with simple vocal exercises get the first taste of what learning vocal habits can be like. The rest of the lesson we usually spend with a song of your choice, so that you get a chance to incorporate the things we've learned in a song.
  • What if I can not sing at all?
Finding your voice is about learning how the voice functions and reacts and why. Awareness of the physical side of the vocal instrument is enocouraged. Having 'good ears' don't play a role here!
  • How do I sign up for a lesson?
    Simply send me a message!
  • Which lesson duration should I choose?
The most common lesson length is 45 minutes. It's enough time to focus on one or two technical aspects and practice it in a song. A 60-minute lesson time is a good choice if you want to work with more songs or spend more time focused on the exact technical interests you have.
  • Are online lessons as good as face-to-face lessons?
They are different! Before the lockdown I was new to teaching online, the transition from on-site to online teaching happened literally over night. What I experienced as a teacher was the communication and trust that grew exponentially. Since physically I couldn’t be there, I noticed how much more aware and self-led my students became. For some of the students singing from the comfort of their own home gave them more confidence in their vocal performance. The online lessons opened definitely new and surprising learning opportunities! Online-lessons need more preparation and planning from the teacher which offers the student a more focused learning experience that encourages exploration and awareness of the voice as an instrument. One of the most obvious reasons for taking online music lessons is convenience; technology has opened up so many doors for people who want to learn new things, right from the comfort of their home. It’s very easy to record your online lessons for future reference. If you want to replay the lesson during practice, review certain parts, or go back and take notes, it would be very easy to do that from a recording. There are pros and cons to both methods, but the availability of online lessons means that anyone can learn to sing, no matter where they live, if they have the motivation to do so!
  • How do I prepare for an online lesson?
A decent internet connection and a video-communication service such as ’Zoom’, ’Skype’ or ’Teams’ are what you need for an online lesson with me. Make sure you have some privacy and enough space around you. It is important for me to see your posture while singing. When practicing on a song I will send you the notes and a backing track, make sure you have them within reach when we start the lesson.
