I started music at age six with violin lessons in Finland, and over time, my passion grew to include singing and music education. I studied vocal pedagogy in Germany, then moved to London with a grant from the Finnish Cultural Foundation to complete my MA in Contemporary Music Performance, graduating with distinction in 2021.

Outside my teaching work, I write and release music under the name Emmi Maaria, blending classical, folk, and pop influences. My songs have been played on BBC 6 Music, Boogaloo Radio, and Radio Helsinki. I also compose for film, perform in an 80s-inspired synth-pop duo, and occasionally appear as a violist and singer in live projects.
